Check out highlights from the range created in collaboration with the Hendrix estate
Liam Gallagher’s fashion label, Pretty Green, has created a Hendrix-inspired AW16 collection that is designed to be “not only a tribute to Jimi’s style, but [also] a modern interpretation of the way he liked to dress”. Check out highlights from the range in this gallery.
So why have Pretty Green created a Hendrix-inspired collection? Well, says Liam: "Jimi Hendrix is an absolute force of nature. As well as him being the best guitarist ever, he's also one of the greatest songwriters; his lyrics and his voice are equally as good and his look is as out-there as his music. Not necessarily stoned but beautiful..."
Hendrix's adopted sister, Janie, says the iconic musician's estate agreed to collaborate with Pretty Green because the label has "a strong rock and roll heritage" which makes them "the ideal partner to create a collection that embodies Jimi's style for a new generation".
The collection's key pieces include a military overcoat with bespoke branded buttons, an all over patterned blazer and dogstooth trousers. There are also shirts and T-shirts, plus accessories such as scarves, iPhone cases and badges. All items feature Jimi Hendrix's signature and an authentic Hendrix trademark.
The collection's prints have been developed from original garments worn by Hendrix himself and the words "are you experienced" have been worked into Pretty Green's signature paisley pattern in reference to the title of Hendrix's classic debut album.
The collection is being launched now to mark the 50th anniversary of Hendrix's first trip to London in September 1966. Find out more at PrettyGreen.com.
