The Broadway musical for which U2 frontman Bono is scoring is set to become the most expensive production in theatre history, according to reports today. ‘Spider-Man’, directed by ‘The Lion King”s Julie Taymor, is currently operating on a budget of $40 million and the show is expected to have a weekly running cost of $1 million.

Franz Ferdinand revealed to a New York audience at their gig on Wednesday (October 8) that their third album should be called ‘Tonight’. The band previewed six new songs during the intimate show at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg, including opener ‘Bite Hard’, ‘Turn It On’ and ‘Katherine, Kiss Me’, all of which they have previously road-tested live.

The theme of Lil’ Wayne’s birthday on Tuesday night (October 7) was very much money, with the rapper receiving the ultimate birthday gift in hard cash from a record label pal. The Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture as announced details of his first-ever solo show, taking place in the UK next week. Nickel Eye will perform at the Borderline in London on October 15, and Fraiture has enlisted the help of South as his backing band. Fraiture is the fourth Stroke to pursue a solo career, following Albert Hammond Jr, Fabrizio Moretti’s band Little Joy, and Julian Casablancas’ solo work with Pharrell and Santogold.
