The singer-songwriter was given free range to tackle any track he wanted from the band's recent album 'Dig Out Your Soul', and opted to produce a chilled-out version of the Noel Gallagher fronted '(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady'. Smashing Pumpkins have reportedly found a new drummer - and he is just 19. Mike Byrne, drummer for Oregon-based band Moses, Smell The Roses apparently landed the gig after working for a week with Corgan last month, and blogged on his MySpace page that he was “off for another couple of weeks at Pumpkin camp”, reports Hipstersunited.com. Kasabian have revealed the meaning behind the title of their third album 'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum'. The album was released last Monday (June 8) and, according to the latest midweek figures, is set to top the UK album charts on Sunday (June 14) night. Speaking to NME.COM, guitarist Sergio Pizzorno explained that although the album shares it's name with the old Yorkshire madhouse – the same institution name-checked in Kaiser Chiefs' song 'Highroyds' – that is the only thing the two have in common. Official Secrets Act headlined NME’s Festival Launch Party last night (June 11) with label stablemates Kill It Kid providing the support at the O2 Academy Islington in London. Airing tracks from their recently released album 'Understanding Electricity', Official Secrets Act played an hour-long set to an enthusiastic audience of competition winners who had battled through the tube strike to be there. The crowd also included Carl Barat, Babyshambles' Drew McConnell and The View's Kyle Falconer.
Madonna has won her appeal to adopt a second Malawi child. The singer failed in her initial bid to adopt four year-old Chifundo 'Mercy' James in April, although the Malawi high court has since accepted her appeal based on her previous commitment to helping disadvantaged children, reports BBC News. Malawi's chief justice, Lovemore Munlo noted the commitment and the fact that Madonna was financially stable, saying, "We therefore grant the adoption." Pic: PA Photos
Rihanna has been served with a subpoena to testify against former boyfriend Chris Brown after he allegedly assaulted her.
