Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones strips off in a hotel room with vocalist Johnny Rotten. In recent years Jones has enjoyed a second career as a radio DJ. Since 2004 he has hosted a daily show in Los Angeles called ‘Jonesy’s Jukebox’, on Indie 103.1 FM.

In 1985, four women formed the Parents Music Resource Centre, to monitor and censor lyrics that focus on violence, drugs, sex or all three. In 1993 at Lollapalooza, Rage Against The Machine stood naked with the acronym PMRC taped across their chests soundtracked by 15 minutes of feedback from their guitars in protest. By way of apology, they later got dressed and played a free show to disappointed fans.

American singer-songwriter Liz Phair keeps decent with the help of her favourite guitar, the Fender Duo-Sonic, which was introduced by the brand in 1965. This shot formed the cover of Phair’s self-titled fourth album, released in 2003. The ‘New York Times’ slammed the album as an "embarrassing form of commercial suicide".
