Having conquered the album charts and the festival circuit, Wolf Alice are now mounting an assault on the film world as stars of Michael Winterbottom’s new movie ‘On The Road’. Filmed on their recent UK tour, it follows the band’s movements and the budding relationship between two fictional members of their team. The movie premiered at the BFI London Film Festival last night (October 9), and Ellie and co were in attendance.
Last night (October 10), Wolf Alice (pictured) attended the premiere of new film On The Road at BFI Southbank as part of BFI London Film Festival.
The film also features the two bands who supported on the run of dates in March - Swim Deep (pictured) and Bloody Knees.
On The Road was directed by Michael Winterbottom (The Trip, 24 Hour Party People) who said he came up with the idea of making a tour film after speaking with the band Ash in the '90s.
The movie sees actor James McArdle play roadie Joe, who is integrated into the band's real life tour crew.
Estelle (played by Leah Harvey) is a new member of the band's management team and joins them on the road where she and Joe begin a relationship.
The film captures the day-to-day life of a band on tour, from the long hours spent travelling to killing time between soundcheck, interviews and performing.
It also features live footage of Wolf Alice from the group's sold out spring tour, during which they played four nights at London's Kentish Town Forum.
On The Road premiered as part of the BFI London Film Festival, but won't see a general release until 2017.
