Say No To The World (Scorpia Records)
Producers: there’s no middle ground, folk either give them too much credit or not enough. Sometimes a band just needs that floating fifth member to fill out their sound and filter out the dross. Had Derby premiere emo-progsters Lost Alone sparked the interest of, say, capricious producer-loon Ross Robinson this could be end-of-year Top Ten material. They’ve the kind of potential only a good twatting round the head with a mic stand would release. Thus, at best ‘Say No…’ sounds like Iron Maiden doing ‘Knights Of Cydonia’ with one eye to the emo crowd, and at worst, like Feeder (‘Predators In A Maze’). One thing we do know is that Bruce Dickinson loves them. We want to, too. We’re just not sure how long the relationship is gonna last.
