New Music Of The Day: Japanese Wallpaper – ‘Cocoon’

Today’s New Music Of The Day Comes from Australian wunderkid Japanese Wallpaper, who’s premiering his cosmic new hit ‘Cocoon’ with NME. The beautifully subdued ‘Cocoon’ is the follow-up to his stupendous self-titled debut EP, in which several of his tracks have broken the 500k play mark and earned him 27k followers on Soundcloud as a result.

The 18-year-old is yet to play a show outside his native country, but he’s keen to continue working on collaborations with a variety of artists. “Collaborations are half the fun… Working with people you like and respect. Every time I’ve collaborated with someone, I’ve learned so much about songwriting,”. ‘Cocoon’ though is all Strum and it shows – it’s refreshingly honest, endearing and avoids the cliches that beleaguer hopeful artists.

Strum may be ready to keep working with other artists, but ‘Cocoon’ is ample evidence that he’s going to be pretty special on his own, too.
