Famy – ‘Donkey’ EP

Famy - 'Donkey' EP

Alt-folk group finally make a record and they don't disappoint

Despite toting their alt-folk around London since 2011, FAMY are finally getting around to putting out their first record after messing around in disco side project Los Porcos. Recorded in a church in Wales with BBC Maida Vale engineer Miti Adhikari, the ‘Donkey’ EP sees the quartet going back to their roots and swapping synths for acoustic guitars. The soaring, stomping folk-pop of the title track sets the tone of the record, ‘A Ho A Hand’ following suit while a chiming rework of live staple ‘Hebrew’ shows a more placid side. FAMY might not be your life (as the opening line of their take on The Minutemen’s ‘History Lesson – Part II’ suggests) but where good, clean fun is concerned they’ll more than do.
