This British romantic comedy starring Simon Pegg and Lake Bell is a surprise delight

This comedy from The Inbetweeners Movie director Ben Palmer revolves around a blind date gone wrong. When Jack (Simon Pegg) mistakes Nancy (It’s Complicated actress Lake Bell) for a woman named Jessica he’s meant to be meeting, they hit it off immediately, but will Nancy’s deception kill the chemistry once Jack discovers who she really is? The plot doesn’t require much guesswork, but the first film script from former My Family writer Tess Morris provides enough laughs to atone for its cheesier scenes, including a dancefloor set-piece involving Duran Duran’s ‘The Reflex’. Entertaining performances from Pegg and the American Bell, who adopts a convincing English accent, help make Man Up a surprise delight.
