Album Review : Millimetre

Album review:

Terence J McGaughey seems to be a thoroughly nice chap – a mainstay of Belfast’s fanzine scene, and establisher of Ireland’s only gay and lesbian resource centre – but there are some odd things going on in that head of his, if his third album is anything to go by. It’s a very odd cove indeed; dubby and expansive and full of dream-like imagery and strange characters. At times it calls to mind the likes of Magazine, the Banshees or ‘Spirit Of Eden’-era Talk Talk, albeit with a more electronic edge to it. McGaughey’s vocals are a little limp and tremorous, and he clearly takes himself spectacularly seriously, but that’s better than not being arsed, isn’t it? Besides, like we said, lovely chap.
