The Answering Machine

Lightbulbs

What with The Answering Machine dealing in often overly cutesy, well-formed indie-pop and London boy James Yuill classing himself simply as “a singer-songwriter”, this was never going to be a mind-bogglingly out-there collaboration. What it is, however, is the trio’s most memorable song reinvented as a new wave nugget, with Casio bleeps, electronic handclaps and those stuttering “O-o-o-o-oh” bits. Quite good, in other words.
