That’s right, Posh and Bex(tor) are back for round two. This time the re-match takes place on either side of a seven-inch and their fate is in the sweaty hands of Stockport’s V/Vm and his accomplice-in-butchery, Jansky Noise. Not quite as, um, magical as the summertime slaughter dished out to Lionel Richie and Chris De Burgh but still a great deal more interesting, amusing, pertinent and enjoyable than most of the piss-poor excuses for singles released this week. Needless to say, True Steppers and Spiller emerge mangled and bloody from the wreckage, their tunes reprocessed into jittery, twitching shadows of their former selves. The original Posh Spice track is bad enough not to merit the V/Vm once-over, while Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who seems perfectly comfortable posing in various states of undress in myriad men’s publications, should appreciate the blatant exploitation. But Dane Bowel? Danepak, surely?
