Simian : The Wisp EP
A feathery and electronically harmonious ribbon of countryside psychedelia
Though it is easy, enjoyable and rewarding to view Simian’s trustafarian musical venture with flint-eyed suspicion, you have to admire a band whose media campaign involves dressing up as, and adopting the vernacular of, Victorian gentleman and then being filmed and photographed through a sepia-tinted lens. Whether this will work in their favour remains to be seen; a little imagination never harmed anyone. Simian are four fey chaps who plan to start their own religion and make music of a delicious pastoral bent. ‘The Wisp’ is their best song, a feathery and electronically harmonious ribbon of countryside psychedelia. God help us if there’s a war, basically.
