From Bonehead to Battenberg – play ‘Show & Tell’ with Blossoms

“I ripped off ‘Bonehead’s Bank Holiday’ when I was like 15,” Blossoms‘ frontman Tom Ogden admits to NME. “I had a verse for each mate, like ‘Joe’s got his latest squeeze, she goes by the name of Eve. That was the lyric.”

To mark the release of their acclaimed new album ‘Cool Like You‘, we accidentally took the lads from Stockport on a journey through childhood and adolescence for our ‘Show & Tell’ series – as Tom and drummer Joe Donovan share their thoughts on everything Kylie Minogue, ‘Stranger Things’, Battenberg cake, and Ogden’s history of shoplifting.

“They’re our team,” says Ogden about Man City. “It reminds me of childhood as well. All I loved growing up was football, until I was about 14. I wanted to be a player up until I was 14 – that was what my world revolved around. I was pretty good.”

Donovan continued: “It’s what we do together outside of the band. It’s the only thing we do together that isn’t band-related. It’s mint and it’s also brought us closer with Noel [Gallagher], which is nice.

“We play five-a-side on tour sometimes. Tom’s like Berbatov. He’s a United player obviously. He doesn’t do a lot running but when he gets the ball… magic.”
