Jake Bugg says he will only collaborate with other artists ‘if they come to me’

Singer was criticised by Noel Gallagher for working with other co-writers

Jake Bugg has said he will not collaborate with any artist unless they come to him.

The singer, who was recently criticised by Noel Gallagher for collaborating with co-songwriters on his self-titled debut, said he will only team up with other artists now if they come to him and have an idea.

He told BANG Showbiz, he said: “Most of the people of I’d like to collaborate with probably aren’t alive anymore. We’ll just have to wait and see. I’m not the kind of person to go asking people. If people want to ask me and they have a pretty decent idea then I’ll maybe be up for it.”

Bugg was dismissed by Gallagher last year who said he was “heart broken” to discover that the young artist had worked with other people to write his songs.

The singer breezed past the comments and aimed his own criticisms at Gallagher’s ‘Chasing Yesterday’, which was released last year.

“Noel’s last album is pretty crap though, innit?” Bugg told NME. “I’m not upset about it because it’s just Noel – he’ll slag off Ed Sheeran and then be at a party with him the next week. It’s just the way he is.”

The singer’s only recent collaboration with Beastie Boys’ Mike D didn’t make his new album ‘On My One’ because he failed to get a finished version from him. “He was doing a track of mine. But I still haven’t bloody got it back. Do you know what it’s called? ‘Waiting’. Can you believe that? It’s like fucking taking the piss,” Bugg added.

‘On My One’ is released on June 17.
