Kasabian have been announced as the first headliner for 2010's T In The Park festival.

The Leicester band will be one of three headliners for the Scottish event, which takes place near Kinross on July 9-11 next summer – it has not been announced which night they will play.

Speaking of the headline slot, frontman Tom Meighan said T In The Park is one of the band's favourite festivals to play.

"T In The Park holds a special place in our hearts," he said. "We've always said how much we'd love to headline it and now we are. We can't wait, we're going to play a blinder and it's going to be massive for us and for the crowd."

Geoff Ellis from DF Concerts added that Kasabian's live reputation helped secure them the headline slot.

"I'm chuffed to bits that we can announce one of our headliners this early on," he said. "Kasabian blow me away every time I see them and they're going to be amazing headliners. We've had lots of fans tell us they want to see Kasabian headline T In The Park so it's great to be able to give them an early Christmas present!"

A limited number of early bird tickets for T In The Park 2010 go on sale tomorrow (December 4) at 9am (GMT).
