Take That's latest album 'The Circus' has become the fastest album to sell one million copies this millennium.

By the close of trading yesterday (December 18), 'The Circus' had sold 990,000 copies, meaning it will comfortably reach the million mark today, according to the Official Chart Company.

"It has been an incredible run for Take That over the past few weeks, which should continue right through to Christmas. The fab foursome have demonstrated once again just how much they are cherished by the great British public," explained Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot.

He added that the band would probably struggle to top this year's biggest seller so far, Duffy.

"They will have to go some to catch and overtake 'Rockferry' and establish 'The Circus' as the biggest selling album of 2008 - but it is not impossible," he said. "And, at the current rate of sales, who would put it past them?"

However, the boyband have failed to beat Oasis to the title of 'fastest million-selling album ever'.

While Take That reached the million mark after being on sale in stores for 19 days, Oasis managed to sell that amount after just 11 days with 1997's 'Be Here Now'.

Take That's last album, 'Beautiful World' (2006), is third in the all-time list, after selling one million copies in 27 days.

Top Five Fastest Million Sellers Of All Time in the UK:

1. Oasis - 'Be Here Now' 11 Days (1997)
2. Take That - 'The Circus' 19 Days (2008)
3. Take That - 'Beautiful World' 27 Days (2006)
4=. The Beatles - '1' 28 Days(2000)
4=. Robson And Jerome - 'Robson And Jerome' 28 Days (1995)
