Warner Bros launches ‘unforgettable’ Tomb Raider escape room using real film sets

It opens in east London on March 9

Warner Bros have announced an escape room themed after the forthcoming Tomb Raider film adaptation starring Alicia Vikander.

Tomb Raider Escape, the world’s first escape room using actual film sets, and is set to open for a limited time in east London on Friday, March 9. Participants will be required to uncover the mysterious Tomb of the Mother of Death.

Lasting 30 minutes, the multi-room experience is inspired by the film, using its props to create an immersive experience based on consultation with production designer Gary Freeman.

Contestants in the escape room will be able to explore sets from the film and “take on physical and mental challenges that Lara faces.” Tickets can only be won by answering a competition question at this web address.

In January a new trailer for the new Tomb Raider film arrived. Based on the story of the 2013 video game of the same name – and the characters from the long-running Tomb Raider franchise – the new film will star Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander as the lead character, Lara Croft. Dominic West, Daniel Wu and Walton Goggins will also play prominent roles.

The new clip delves deeper into the plot of the film: after unearthing a clue based on his research, Croft leaves her quiet and ordinary life in London to go in search of her archaeologist father Lord Richard Croft (played by West), who was believed to be dead.

Tomb Raider arrives on UK screens on March 15.
