Greg James responds to criticism for telling Taylor Swift to take a shower

"I almost said we should both go for a shower but after this reaction I’m glad I didn’t"

Presenter and DJ Greg James has caused a stir online after an interview with Taylor Swift, in which he told her she needed a shower.

James was speaking to Swift shortly after she’d come off stage at the weekend’s BBC Biggest Weekend in Swansea.

“It’s nice to see you,” said James. “I think you need to have a shower now.”

Swift took the comment in good humour, replying: “I agree! And I’m not offended that you said that! There’s a lot going on and none of it’s good.”

However, many viewers and Swift fans were less than please with James’ comment. Some called upon James to apologise for being “rude” and “ill-mannered”.

However, other viewers defended James – hailing the moment as “pure gold”:

James, who wracked up millions of views on Youtube by performing ‘Blank Space’ with Swift in a proto version of ‘Carpool Karaoke’ several years ago, responded to the criticism – telling followers that the pair were “all good”.

“TS has a great sense of humour and we have known each other for ages and had a good catch up after the interview,” he wrote on Twitter. “It’s all cool. It was hot up there. I almost said we should both go for a shower but after this reaction I’m glad I didn’t!”
