Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart recite Taylor Swift song lyrics – watch

Actors Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart have recited song lyrics by pop singer Taylor Swift.

The pair, well-known to be close friends, each delivered a reading of Swift tracks this past week, with McKellen reciting ‘Bad Blood’ in a video for Yahoo and Stewart reading ‘Blank Space’ on NPR’s ‘Ask Me Another’ show.

Patrick Stewart later tweeted: “So @IanMcKellen recited Bad Blood and I did Blank Space on @NPRAskMeAnother. May we join the squad, @taylorswift13?”

Swift replied: “Thanks for reciting my lyrics, @IanMcKellen and @SirPatStew! You’ve made my day. You two are ULTIMATE Squad Goals”.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s label boss has revealed that the singer failed to inform the record company prior to her criticism of Apple Music last month that led to the company changing its royalties policy.

Apple recently made a U-turn on their royalty scheme following criticism over the policy of not paying musicians, producers, songwriters or rights holders during its three-month free trial.

The company changed their mind after Swift publicly criticised them, labelling the move as “shocking, disappointing, and completely unlike this historically progressive and generous company” in an online blog post.

Now, Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta has commenting on the incident at the recent Fortune Brainstorm Tech conference, revealing that he had no prior warning about Swift’s intended actions.

“The conversation started with myself and the executives of Apple, just as a label group conversation of ‘I can’t support this: you need to pay us from the first stream’,” Borchetta said.

“And those conversations were leading up to the weekend where Taylor posted the blog. She and I hadn’t spoken that week, so she literally texted me, she said ‘Don’t be mad’ with the link… I said ‘you don’t have any idea how good your timing is right now'”.

The boss of the Nashville-based label added: “Everyone was fighting that fight. There was a huge fight going on behind the scenes. I think that Taylor pushed it over the edge.”
