Being daughter of British thespian Keith Allen, young Lily’s recording career should feature her turning up for a one-verse cameo on every record recorded in the UK in the last two decades. Luckily, she’s decided to make proper records instead – like ‘Smile’, which sashay along with sass while still remaining charming. Loping along on a cod-reggae groove that smoulders like a barbecue, ‘Smile’ is about feeling good when bad things happen to ex-boyfriends, and feeling a little guilty about it, although not really. And while it doesn’t mark Allen out as excellent dating material, as a soundtrack to the summer it’s a dead fackin’ cert.
