Cannibal Corpse – ‘Torture’

Horrible nonsense - in a good way

“With ‘Torture’,” says [a]Cannibal Corpse[/a]’s lead singer George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher, “we wanted to explore other, more traditional forms of American music, like ragtime, Dixie jazz and bluegrass. We also wanted to communicate our sense of humour more.” Ha ha! We’re joking, of course!

This is more entirely predictably absurd bludgeoning death metal silliness from the kings of its kind. It boasts song titles like ‘Sarcophagic Frenzy’ and ‘Followed Home Then Killed’ (that’s very much the romantic one in the set) and, if you’re 14 years old, you can cause your parents all sorts of unnecessary worry by listening to it. Horrible nonsense, and I mean that as a compliment.
