Meet Today’s Leading Paranormal Investigators

In The Conjuring 2, which opens in cinemas on June 13, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as legendary American paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Though the couple who claim to have investigated over 10,000 cases are no longer active, their legacy most definitely lives on. Here are five modern-day paranormal investigators following in the Warrens’ footsteps.

Zak Bagans

Bagans has hosted popular US paranormal show Ghost Adventures since 2008. Though some viewers consider him aggressive, Bagans defended his methods in a 2009 interview, saying: “I don’t want the public perceiving us as the taunting, provocative ghost hunters. We do that only to the bad spirits who we know are attacking the living.”

Cameron Bagg

Often known simply as “the ghost man”, this Canadian paranormal investigator says he investigated over 100 cases between 1998 and 2008. He makes a point of not charging for his work and also runs workshops teaching others how to conduct their own paranormal investigations.

Ryan Buell

This American paranormal investigator founded his own research society when he was a 19-year-old university student. He later became one of the main investigators on US series Paranormal State, which ran from to 2007 to 2011.

Yvette Fielding

Though she initially found fame as a Blue Peter presenter, Fielding has since helped to popularise the work of paranormal investigators in the UK by hosting Most Haunted. An 18th series of the cult show will air later this year.

John Zaffis

Zaffis, 60, has over 40 years of experience as a paranormal investigator and in 1998 founded the Paranormal and Demonology Research Society of New England. He also hosted the US paranormal show Haunted Collector from 2011 to 2013.
