Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever announce 2021 Australian tour

Featuring support from Hayley Mary, RINSE, Pinch Points and more

Six months after the release of their second album ‘Sideways to New Italy’, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever have announced a 2021 Australian tour.

The run will kick off in Adelaide on April 16, before coming through Hobart, Brisbane, Fremantle, Melbourne and Sydney, finishing in Canberra on May 22.

Different local acts will support the band along the way, with Hayley Mary and Solo Career for Sydney and Canberra; in Melbourne, Elizabeth and Pinch Points. In Brisbane, RINSE and Blank Realm will take to the stage; Jess Day in Adelaide, and Adrian Dzvuke and garage-folk soloist Nika Mo in Fremantle.

“After a dirty year, we’re throwing these ones on the boot with love and hope,” the band wrote in a statement.

“Fortunate to be joined by the country’s finest. As J. Strummer once said, the future is unwritten. We’re going to do everything in our power to make these shows happen as planned. We acknowledge these shows take place on Aboriginal land and pay our respects to elders past and present. See you in 2021, we’ve missed you 💙RBCF.”

Tickets for RBCF’s tour go on general sale from 10am December 10 via Frontier Touring.

The band were NME Australia‘s cover stars in June, following the release of ‘Sideways to New Italy’. They spoke about their gruelling 18-month international tour in support of their 2018 debut ‘Hope Downs’, often playing seven shows a week.

“It only hit home when… we finally ran out of summer. We had been doing Australian summer, European summer, four summers in a row,” guitarist Fran Keaney said.

“It was getting cold and dark by 3pm. Our bones were just sore. We were so broken. I remember the idea of standing up for an hour to play a show was so foreign. Forty-five minutes before a show, I thought, ‘I can’t see how that’s going to happen’.”

NME gave ‘Sideways to New Italy’ four stars, writing that “it might sound like sun-splashed indie for good times, but there’s a great deal of angst buried within”.
