Interstellar director Christopher Nolan has said that he does not believe the James Bond films need him even though he has been touted for a future role with the franchise.
Nolan, who also created Inception and The Dark Knight trilogy, revealed to The Daily Beast that he has held talks with producers in the past, but does not feel that the time is right for him to direct a 007 movie.
“I love James Bond and I’ve talked with the producers over the years, but nothing’s ever worked out,” the director said. “They do a great job – they don’t need me right now, and Sam [Mendes] is an extraordinary talent. I will absolutely be first in line to see the next Bond film as I have been for all of them.”
Interstellar opened in UK cinemas last week. The film sees Matthew McConaughey boldly go into another dimension with Anne Hathaway. The film also stars Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty), Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) and Michael Caine.
The as-yet-untitled 24th James Bond film will begin shooting on December 6. The follow-up to Skyfall from director Sam Mendes is scheduled for release on October 23, 2015.
