He's in the frame to play Quicksilver but nothing is official yet
Aaron Taylor-Johnson has revealed he’s in talks with Joss Whedon and Marvel to appear in The Avengers 2.
Last month (June), the Kick-Ass star was linked to the role of Quicksilver, a mutant with superhuman speed who’s set to feature in the sequel alongside his twin sister the Scarlet Witch.
“I feel really flattered and honoured that they came to me for that role,” Taylor-Johnson confirmed in an interview with Collider, before essentially admitting that nothing has been decided yet.
“I think he’s an interesting character and we’re just gonna keep going into that. I sat down with Joss, I think he’s awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they’re also great; I think it’d be interesting,” the actor said noncommittally.
Last month (June), Robert Downey Jr signed a deal to return as Iron Man in the new Avengers movie, which is now officially titled The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
The rest of the cast has yet to be confirmed but Marvel has promised a mix of “favourites from the first Avengers film and new Marvel characters never before seen on the big screen”. Whedon has recently promised that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is a “huge part” of the sequel so it’s a pretty safe bet that she’ll be back too.
Whedon is currently working on his script for The Avengers: Age Of Ultron and shooting is due to begin in London early next year (2014). In the meantime, Kick-Ass 2 starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson is due to open in UK cinemas very shortly on August 14.
