The first reactions to Avengers: Endgame have been revealed, and it’s already being hailed as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.
The MCU sequel will arrive on Thursday (April 25) and follows directly from the events of Infinity War – with the surviving heroes attempting to undo the galactic devastation that Thanos has created.
While early reactions are remaining vague in a bid to avoid spoilers, it seems that fans are set for an appropriately emotional ending.
Critic Eric Eisenberg wrote on Twitter: “This can’t be understated:
#AvengersEndgame is everything you want it to be and more. I am absolutely floored.
“A perfect reflection on the last 11 years that pays off everything in the best way possible. Without question my new favourite Marvel Cinematic Universe film. Stunned.”
It’s incredible. I’m speechless. #endgame

Wow. #AvengersEndgame is staggering. It’s surprising in ways I never saw coming and satisfying in ways I didn’t realize I needed. It’s kind of the ultimate gift to fans of the MCU. It’s very long and has a few hiccups, but is everything you’re hoping for and more. pic.twitter.com/RO97kw9fs5

Anthony Breznican wrote: “Avengers: Endgame just ended. No spoiler, but some first thoughts. Epic is the word. Epic multiplied by a decade of emotion, excitement and investment. This is the payoff. It left me with a full heart, but one I had has some scars on it. Those are the strongest kind, after all.”

In a five star review, NME’s Olly Richards hailed Endgame as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.
“Whether your heart belongs to the original team or one of the newbies, you’ll see them get their time to shine. You will almost certainly cry. Probably more than once,” our review stated.
“Is it the best comic-book movie ever? The Dark Knight could give it a very good fight, but Endgame has more fighters on its team. It might just win.”
