Mel Gibson has been sentenced to probation as his domestic violence case came to an end.
The actor was sentenced following his prosecution for hitting Oksana Grigorevia on Friday (March 11). He received three years probation and was ordered to spend one year in counselling perform 16 hours of community service and pay fines and court costs.
“I have a good grasp of everything my attorney has discussed with me,” Gibson told the judge, according to The Guardian. Gibson escaped jail tome in return for admitting guilt under Californian law. A counter-claim against Grigorieva for blackmail was dropped.
