Ex-Arctic Monkey opens Sheffield pub with help from The Reverend

Jon McClure entertains punters at Andy Nicholson's The Bowery

Former Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson opened his pub The Bowery in Sheffield last night (September 24) – with help from Jon ‘The Reverend’ McClure.

The boozer, co-owned by Nicholson along with promoters James O’Hara and Michael Dean, welcomed its first customers by treating them to an acoustic show by McClure.

The original public opening, set for last Saturday (September 20), had to be rescheduled due to licensing issues.

Nicholson told the Sheffield Telegraph: “It’s taken a long time to get to this point but I’m really excited. It seemed to go down well with our family and mates, which is quite a variety of different people

“You can’t move for places like this in Manchester‘s Northern Quarter, so we wanted to bring that feel across the Pennines.”
