Brand New singer Jesse Lacey delivered an emotional speech at a recent live show, hinting at a new album as well as the group’s apparent looming demise.
The Long Island band shared their first studio recording in six years during April in the form of ‘Mene’, later stating that they hope to release their fifth album this year.
However, the group played a show in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend, which Lacey described as their last show “for a while”.
A tearful Lacey told the crowd during the gig: “I’m gonna have a new daughter. We’ll hopefully have a record for you. I wanna tell you right here and now, this isn’t gonna last much longer, but it’s been so special for so long. For as long as it does last, we’re so grateful to you all for being here.”

In an interview with Spanish magazine RockZone earlier this year, Lacey revealed that their next LP is not ready yet but that “hopefully it will come out this year”.

The singer added: “We don’t know whether it will be an EP of seven songs or so, or the traditional LP of 14 songs. We have many songs that we’ve been working”.
The band’s most recent album, ‘Daisy’, was released in September 2009. It was preceded by ‘The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me’ (2006), ‘Deja Entendu’ (2003) and debut ‘Your Favorite Weapon’ (2001).
