Libertines, The Datsuns, RYAN ADAMS and COLDPLAY are the early winners at this years’s NME CARLING AWARDS in LONDON, presented by comic BILL BAILEY.
The Datsuns took the award for Carling Best New Band, while Ryan Adams clinched the award for 4Music Best Live Band, presented by BBC Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray.
Libertines claimed the Best Solo Artist gong, while Coldplay collected their NME Album Of The Year, voted by NME’s writers, for ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’.
The Datsuns, of course, let off bangers on stage.
Libertines on receipt of his award said: “I kinda wanted The Streets to win.”
Coldplay singer Chris Martin said: “I’m going out with Julia Roberts.”
Meanwhile host Bill Bailey retorted with “Thank Christ he didn’t do a Gwyneth.”
