DMX wraps up court case in New York...

DMX paid a fine of $1,000 and had charges of contempt of court and assault dismissed after reaching an agreement with prosecutors in NEW YORK this week.

On Tuesday (July 24), prosecutors in Alden accepted a guilty plea to a misdemeanour charge of reckless assault from the rapper, who had originally been charged with assault in February when he threw a tray of food across a room – which allegedly hit an officer – while serving a custody sentence at Erie County Correctional Facility.

The charge of contempt of court, which was brought on February 9 after he turned himself in more than two weeks late to serve the 13-day jail sentence for a traffic violation dating back to March last year, was dismissed, reports. At the time, he said he was late for the start of his sentence because he was undertaking promotional duties for his movie ‘Exit Wounds’.

His attorney Paul Cambria commented yesterday (July 26): “We’re happy this is over.” And he said that the rapper is currently deciding whether or not to pursue a claim against Erie County Correctional Facility, after alleging that he had been assaulted by officers while he was inside. “I guess it depends on how much more time he wants to spend in Erie County,” he added.
