Elton John has criticised Kings Of Leon for refusing to allow one of their songs to be used on Glee.
Last year, the Nashville band told NME that they turned down an offer from the musical series to use one of their songs to refrain from “selling out”.
However, the snub has provoked the ire of the Rocket Man, who told the Followills to “lighten up”.
Appearing on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, John called the band “assholes”.
“It’s a compliment when someone records or does one of your songs. It doesn’t matter if it’s a bad version, it’s just a compliment, so I’ve never lost that thrill,” he said.
The singer’s comments echo remarks made by Glee creator Ryan Murphy earlier this year over the refusal.
“Fuck you, Kings Of Leon. They are self-centred assholes and they missed the big picture,” he told the Hollywoodreporter.com.
