Elton John confirms cancelled shows will not be rescheduled

Fans are being offered full refunds after gigs were pulled due to illness

Elton John has confirmed that he will not be rescheduling gigs originally cancelled after he was hospitalised with flu and E coli.

The singer was forced to cancel a number of dates on his ‘Red Piano’ UK tour earlier this month after being struck down with the illness.

John‘s promoter has now confirmed that those shows – at Sheffield Arena (October 23), Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (24), London Wembley Arena (27) and Liverpool Echo Arena (28) will not be rescheduled, reports BBC News.

“Sadly, due to venue availability and the scale of the Red Piano show, these shows cannot be rescheduled and have now been cancelled,” the promoter said.

Speaking on behalf of John, a spokesperson from Marshall Arts said the singer was “terribly disappointed” about the cancellations. “Elton has been overwhelmed by the tremendous loyalty and messages of support he has received from his fans in the UK,” the spokesperson added.

Ticket holders for the gigs are advised to contact the point of purchase in order to gain a full face-value refund.
