The troubled rapper and the US boy band have both been nominated for six prizes...

Eminem, *NSYNC, Macy Gray and BLUR are among the nominations for this year’s MTV video music awards.

Eminem has been nominated for six awards, as have US boy band *NSYNC. Both have been nominated for Video Of The YearEminem for ‘The Real Slim Shady’ and ‘NSYNC for ‘Bye Bye Bye’.

In addition, the controversial rapper has also had his video, which features a cameo performance from Limp Bizkit‘s Fred Durst, nominated in the Best Male Video, Best Rap Video, Best Direction In A Video and Best Editing categories. *NSYNC have also been nominated for Best Group Video, Best Dance Video, Best Pop Video and Best Choreography In A Video.

Macy Gray, riding on the success of her debut album ‘On How Life Is’, has been nominated for four awards – Best Female Video, Best New Artist In A Video, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography, while Blur have received a nomination for Best Breakthrough Video for their single ‘Coffee + TV’.

Other artists nominated for awards include Britney Spears, Moby, Ricky Martin, Rage Against The Machine and Christina Aguilera.

The awards will take place on September 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
