Gwen Stefani files for divorce from Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage

The pair met in 1995 when No Doubt and Bush played a show together

Gwen Stefani has reportedly filed for divorce from husband and Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.

The No Doubt singer had been married to Rossdale for 13 years, wedding in 2002 after the pair met in 1995 when Stefani’s band opened for Bush at one of their concerts.

TMZ reports that Stefani filed her petition for divorce on Monday (August 3), citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason behind their split.

The pair have three children together (Zuma, Kingston and Apollo) and are seeking joint custody.

“While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment,” the pair say in a joint statement.

Earlier this year, Stefani took out a three-year restraining order against an allegedly obsessed fan. The individual, Richard Portnoy, is accused of threatening to kill himself because he found pictures of the singer tripping over upsetting. He also showed up at her acupuncturist’s office so he could catch her walking inside.

According to Stefani, she had been subjected to ongoing attention from the man who is reportedly very wealthy and lives inside a gated community and drives various expensive cars including a Porsche and a Mercedes.

He also “showed up at Gwen’s doorstep, saw her dad and told him he had seen photos of her tripping, adding, if she was hurt, he didn’t know if he could go on living”.

Meanwhile, Eminem has said that he has always respected Gwen Stefani, with whom he recently collaborated, despite once writing a song asking her to “pee pee” on him.

The pair recently worked together on new collaboration ‘Kings Never Die’. The song appears on the soundtrack to new film Southpaw.

Speaking about his work on the film in a new interview with the New York Times, Eminem was confronted with the lyrics to his 2004 song ‘Ass Like That’, which appeared on the ‘Encore’ album, in which he targeted a number of famous women with derogatory remarks. Stefani is among the targets in the song, alongside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson.

Quizzed on the song’s lyrics, including the line “So Gwen Stefani, will you pee pee on me please? I ain’t never seen an ass like that, Cuz the way you move it, you make my pee pee go, Doing, doing, doing” Eminem maintained that he has always admired the No Doubt singer.

“I don’t think it was ever anything that was disrespectful. I mean, maybe I said she could pee-pee on me, but I don’t care who you are – that’s funny regardless,” he said. “But I’ve always respected Gwen Stefani. She’s an incredible talent, but also her longevity is one of the reasons she was perfect for that song.”
