LOUISE HITS BACK

Phew - we can all breathe a sigh of relief...

In spite of claims yesterday (23 January) regarding the future of LOUISE NURDING’s relationship with EMI RECORDS, a statement released by the label today claims that the singer is still signed and is looking to release a GREATEST HITS compilation.

The statement reads: “EMI and First Avenue Records have enjoyed a 10-year association with Louise during which she scored 16 consecutive top 20 hits as a solo artist and a member of Eternal. EMI is currently in discussion with Louise’s record label First Avenue about the release of a Greatest Hits album in summer 2001.”

“Louise is currently recording new material for the Hits album, and will announce her future recording plans shortly.”

A spokesperson for the label told NME.COM yesterday that a widely-quoted statement purported to have been issued by Louise’s people had actually been taken from an Internet messageboard, and was nothing to do with either EMI or First Avenue Records.
