MOBY has claimed he started taking drugs at the age of ten, but quit three years later because he “didn’t want to be a thirteen-year-old drug addict”.
According to a report in this morning’s Sun newspaper (December 20), Moby, who is well known for being a vegan and a Christian, said his drug taking started when he was “hanging out with an older crowd”. He said: “I started taking drugs when I was ten and did them for a couple of years. It was cannabis and pills mostly.
“I was hanging out with an older crowd and I did it to be one of them. But I realised it wasn’t a good idea. I didn’t want to be a 13-year-old drug addict. I’m not into drugs any more but I probably have one or two joints a year.
“I get pissed sometimes too – and sleep with people. I am not the clean living person people try to pigeonhole me as.”
Moby is confirmed to play two more shows in the UK and Ireland this year, at the Dublin Point on December 29, before headlining a massive show at Edinburgh Castle on New Year’s Eve (December 31).
