Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav could face 12 years in prison for assault

The rapper is accused of threatening a 17 year-old boy with a butcher's knife

Public Enemy‘s Flavor Flav is to stand trial on two felony charges after allegedly threatening his girlfriend’s son with a butcher’s knife.

The rapper chose not to testify during an evidence hearing in Las Vegas on Wednesday (April 10), but the 17-year-old boy appeared to state his case and a judge ruled that there is enough evidence to take Flavor Flav – real name William Jonathan Drayton, Jr – to trial.

The 54-year-old rapper was arrested on an assault charge last October (2012) before being released on $23,000 (£15,000) bail. He is accused of pushing his girlfriend to the floor during an altercation at their Las Vegas home and brandishing a butcher’s knife while he chased and threatened the teenage boy.
