Nigel Godrich insists it's "wishful thinking" to expect 'Amnesiac' to be a more commercial effort than 'Kid A'...

Producer NIGEL GODRICH has said it is “wishful thinking”, if fans believe RADIOHEAD’s forthcoming album ‘AMNESIAC’ is more commercial than last effort ‘KID A’.

Godrich produced both ‘Kid A’ and ‘Amnesiac’, as well as working with other bands, including Travis and Beck. Speaking to [url=] in the US, Godrich said he is currently putting the finishing touches to ‘Amnesiac’, due for release in the UK on June 4 via Parlophone.

When asked if the album is more commercial than its predecessor ‘Kid A’, Godrich said: “We’ll see about that, I’m not so sure. Some of that may be wishful thinking. Half of it is probably more what people might expect to hear, but the other half, I don’t really know how to describe it.”

Godrich also spoke of his current sessions with Travis, who he is working with on the follow-up to ‘The Man Who’ in LA. Speaking of his time with the band, Godrich revealed the album is now “two-thirds” complete.

He commented: “It’s been absolutely brilliant. I did a Beck album out here (in LA) and it was fate that we ended up at this particular studio, Ocean Way on Sunset Blvd. It’s the best place I’ve ever worked.

“We got so much achieved in three weeks in October, and then working over Christmas in London with the bad weather, coming from this sunny vibe, was quite hard. So this is like a bit of a school trip. We thought we’d just finish it on the same note.”
