Rihanna apologises for not partying with her fans on 777 tour

Singer blames a cold for her lack of socialising

Rihanna has apologised for refusing to mingle with journalists and fans on her 777 tour, blaming a cold for her lack of communication.

The singer said that she refused to party on her tour plane because she wanted to rest her voice so she could carry on with the whirlwind tour.

She told US Weekly:

I had to preserve my health, normally, I’d be back here popping bottles with y’all. I had to preserve my voice. I was worried about my body more than partying on the plane, so I had to just sleep whenever I could.

Her comments come after the mood on the plane flying Rihanna, 150 music journalistsand 100 crew, entourage and competition-winning fans around reportedly turned sour earlier this week.

The week-long world tour, which began in Mexico City on Wednesday (November 14) and ended on Tuesday (November 20) in New York, has seen journalists complain of tiredness, jet lag and a lack of the access to Rihanna that they had hoped they would get. One Australian journalist, frustrated with the situation, streaked through the plane last night (Nov 18) on the flight from Berlin to London. Click below to view video footage of that incident.

Her multinational tour also ran into trouble last night at Berlin’s E-Werk venue when a late start led to booing crowds. The audience, many of whom had been waiting since 8pm for her scheduled 9pm start, were disgruntled to still be waiting for the pop star’s arrival onstage at 11.30pm. DJs Congo Rock and Reflex had long since finished and the crowd were subjected to taped songs by artists including Jessie J.
