New Rihanna album due this autumn?

Singer tweets that her sixth record is just months away

Rihanna has revealed that her next album will be available this autumn.

Responding to a question from one of her followers on Twitter asking “When’s the next album due?” Rihanna replied with “THIS FALL!!!!!”

The announcement confirms previous statements from sources suggesting that the Barbadian singer was working on a new full-length studio effort. In August it was reported that Rihanna was finishing up work on her sixth record with producer Verse Simmonds stating that the singer was likely to use one of their tracks for her new album. He said: “From what I understand, she is closing up the album up now, and we did two records for her that she really, really loved and I’m really excited about them as well.”

The release will come less than a year since her last record ‘Loud’ was released in November 2010. This sort of quick fire release pattern isn’t new for the star, since the release of her first record in 2005, the pop diva has dropped a new album every year, except for 2008.

‘Loud’ has sold 1.5 million copies in the U.S and is her second-biggest selling album next to 2007’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ which has sold 2.7 million. Rihanna’s recent single ‘Cheers (Drink to That)’ became the fourth top 10 single from ‘Loud’ this week, as it climbed the Billboard charts to reach number 10.

The ‘announcement’ comes days after the popstar filed a lawsuit after a $6.9 million (£4.25 million) mansion she bought in 2009 suffered a major water leak.
