The xx have confirmed work is continuing on their third LP.
The band posted a note to their fans and on Facebook and a playlist of what they have been listening to during recording sessions for the new record.
In the note the band said:
It’s been a while but you’ve been on our minds!
We are in the studio working on our third album, it feels so good to be together making new music.
Meanwhile, we wanted to share a playlist of songs we’ve been listening to in the studio. http://xxe.ht/oidutsehtni
We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
Lots of love
xx The xx”
The playlist that they shared includes songs by the Velvet Underground, Aretha Franklin, Solange Knowles, The Cure, Radiohead and Sia. You can listen to the playlist below.
The band recently announced their first live shows in three years with dates lined up at three Lollapalooza festivals in South America next spring, joining a bumper lineup that also includes The Strokes, The Weeknd, The 1975, Metallica and Tove Lo. At the end of last year, the band shared a photo of them working on their next album in the studio.
The caption read: “Winter studio hibernation. xx The xx”. The last album the band released was ‘Co-Exist’ in 2012. Since then Jamie xx from the band has released his own LP ‘In Colour’ in 2015 and performed various DJ sets of the record.
