Wiz Khalifa sued by rapper Maxamillion over ‘Black And Yellow’ dispute

Hip hop star facing $2.3 million lawsuit

Wiz Khalifa is being sued for $2.3 million (£1.5 million) by the rapper Maxamillion, according to reports.

Pittsburgh-based artist Maxamillion, whose real name is Max Warren, alleges that Khalifa’s track ‘Black And Yellow’ stole elements from his own song ‘Pink N Yellow’, reports Rolling Stone.

Warren, who claims that he copyrighted his song in 2008, has reportedly filed his lawsuit in a federal court in Philadelphia against Khalifa – real name Cameron Jibril Thomaz – and two other songwriters, as well as several record companies.

A spokesman for Khalifa’s label Atlantic Records has not yet commented on the dispute, while Warren also declined the opportunity to speak publicly about the lawsuit.

‘Yellow And Black’ featured on Khalifa’s debut LP ‘Rolling Papers’, which was released in March last year. The track scored him both a Number One single in the US and a Number Five hit in the Official UK Singles Chart.

In September last year, the rapper teamed up with T-Pain and singer Lily Allen for the single ‘5 O’Clock’. You can watch the video for the track by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and clicking.
