Watch Tyler, The Creator rap about being banned from the UK

Tyler name-checks Home Secretary Theresa May on the track

Tyler, The Creator has debuted a new song which references the fact he has been banned from entering the UK.

After he cancelled a series of UK live dates last summer, the Odd Future rapper tweeted: “BASED ON LYRICS FROM 2009 I AM NOT ALLOWED IN THE UK FOR 3-5 YEARS ( although i was there 8 weeks ago) THAT IS WHY THE SHOWS WERE CANCELLED.”

Now he has taken aim at Home Secretary Theresa May, who holds overall responsibility for granting permission to enter the UK, in a new track called ‘My Ego’ which he performed at a fashion show in Los Angeles on Saturday night (June 11).

Tyler, The Creator raps on the track: “Tell Theresa May to let me in / I been going in since 2010 / It gotta be the color of my skin / Cause there’s n****s there / That doing more damage than my pen, man / Said some old lines was offensive / I was young, I can’t apologise for that shi t/ They took my fiction literature for literal / I ain’t no motherfuckin’ criminal”

Tyler has since said on Twitter that the song is a “throwaway” made for that night only. Scroll down to watch fan footage of the rapper performing ‘My Ego’ at the Golf Wang fashion show on Saturday night.
