Elton John looks forward to the fancy dress as he and Snoop Dogg take Bestival headline slots

MIA, Franz Ferdinand and Bombay Bicycle Club also among names added to line-up

Elton John and Snoop Dogg will headline this year’s Bestival.

Elton will top the bill at the festival on the Sunday evening (September 8) in his only UK festival appearance of the year, while rapper Snoop Dogg will take centre stage on the Saturday night (September 7). The final headline act is still to be confirmed for the festival, which takes place from September 5-8 at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight.

Speaking about the slot, Elton said: “I haven’t played any of the major festivals in the UK in recent years, so when the opportunity to play Bestival came up I was very interested. I’ve heard the Bestival audience comes in fancy dress and I can’t wait to see that, they must all look amazing from the stage.”

He continues: “At various times I wore enormous feathered head-dressed, cloaks, hot pants, jumpsuits, clown suits, a Minnie Mouse outfit, French maid, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue Of Liberty. Wearing fancy dress makes us all feel less inhibited so I think it’s a great way to enjoy live music.”

Other confirmed acts, meanwhile, include a UK festival exclusive from MIA, as well as sets from Bombay Bicycle Club, Franz Ferdinand, Merchandise, Peace, The Flaming Lips, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Johnny Marr, The Knife, Tom Odell, Jessie Ware and Angel Haze.
