Jamie xx launches EP of ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’ remixes – listen

The four-track EP of versions of the track is streaming on Spotify now

Jamie xx has released a four-track EP consisting only of remixes of ‘I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)’, streaming the EP on Spotify.

The tracks feature a host of varied collaborations involving Young Thug, Popcaan, Frisco, Assassin, Konshens and an instrumental-only version of the track. The original version is based on (and makes use of) The Persuasions’ 1971 track ‘Good Times’.

Two of the new versions are headed up by Skepta and Dre Skull, and come ahead of a substantial London gig for the Mercury Nominee, at Alexandra Palace on February 26.

Jamie xx released his debut solo record ‘In Colour’ earlier this year. The album includes collaborations with artists including Young Thug and Popcaan as well as his XX bandmates Romy Madley-Croft and Oliver Sim. The album charted at Number Three in the Official UK Albums Chart.

‘In Colour’ was nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize, but lost out to eventual winner Benjamin Clementine.

He recently appeared alongside bandmates, Four Tet and Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint to play tracks from ‘In Colour’ on BBC Radio One.
