HBO have shared a series of first-look images of the main cast of Euphoria – check them out below.
The long-awaited third season of the hit teen drama will hit screens in April, with its return coming more than four years after its second season aired. A host of factors played a part, including a halt due to the Hollywood strikes, the unexpected death of star Angus Cloud, and difficulties aligning the schedules for the in-demand cast.
The Sam Levinson-created show is notable for having launched the careers of several actors that have since become significant stars, including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi, all of whom featured in the new teaser shots shared to Instagram.
On Friday (December 12), HBO surprised fans by rolling out the first look at the main cast, who in season three will have time jumped, now appearing as young adults five years on from where the show left off.
As well as the shots of the cast, a new teaser clip has been shared by HBO – which you can check out below.
Zendaya’s Rue will find herself south of the border in Mexico and in debt to drug dealer Laurie, played by Martha Kelly, “trying to come up with some very innovative ways to pay it off,” Levinson has said, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Sweeney‘s Cassie and Elordi‘s Nate are now engaged and will reportedly get married in the next season, but Cassie finds herself “very addicted to social media and envious of what appears to be the big lives that all of her high school classmates are living at this point in time” while settling into the suburbs with a domesticated-looking Nate.
Schafer‘s Jules is in art school, and said to be grappling with nerves about her career as a painter, while Alexa Demi’s Maddie is working at a Hollywood talent agency for a manager while having “her own side hustles”. Maude Apatow‘s Lexi is working as an assistant to a showrunner who is played by Sharon Stone.
Back in October, HBO announced a slew of returning and new cast additions who’ll be joining the main cast in the third instalment. Among the new cast members are Bella Podaras, Bill Bodner, Cailyn Rice, Colleen Camp, Eli Roth, Gideon Adlon, Hemky Madera, Homer Gere, Jack Topalian, Jessica Blair Herman, Kwame Patterson, Madison Thompson, Matthew Willig, Natasha Lyonne, Rebecca Pidgeon, Sam Trammell, Trisha Paytas and Danielle Deadwyler.
Actors returning to the series include Alanna Ubach, Daeg Faerch, Melvin Bonez Estes, Paula Marshall, Sophia Rose Wilson, Zak Steiner and Dominic Fike.
Another notable return comes from Nika King, who didn’t appear on HBO’s initial season three cast list back in February. King plays Rue’s (Zendaya) mother, Leslie, and made headlines after quipping in a stand-up set that production delays on the show meant she couldn’t pay her rent.
She will join previously announced newcomers Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Toby Wallace, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Kadeem Hardison, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, Anna Van Patten and Asante Blackk.
Information has slowly been coming through about the new season this year, with Sweeney teasing back in May that it will be “more unhinged” than ever. Her co-star Elordi revealed many of the cast are filming scenes apart, saying of their storylines: “I don’t really know what anyone else is doing. It’s all quite separate.”
