She looks awesome

Ruby Rose has shared the first on-set picture of her in character as Batwoman in the upcoming TV series.

The DJ and Orange is the New Black star will play the superhero, real name Kate Kane, in a number of upcoming DC universe shows.

Rose, 32, will first appear as the superhero in crossover episodes of existing shows The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl next month, and will later head up her own TV show, Batwoman. See the image below.

Batwoman was first introduced into the DC Extended Universe in the 1950s as Batman’s love interest.

In 2006, she was reintroduced as a lesbian of Jewish descent. Rose, who is gay, has spoken about the role being a “game-changer” for her despite criticism that the casting team assigned the role to a non-Jewish actress.

In October, The CW shared the first promotional image of Rose in her Batwoman costume, which was designed by four-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood.

Batwoman will be broadcast on The CW, which is also home to other ongoing DC Comics-based TV series.

A synopsis for the show describes Batwoman as being “armed with a passion for social justice and flair for speaking her mind.”
