‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6’ ending explained

The story isn't over yet

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 was released last week (October 25) and fans were finally able to dive into the “kick-ass” campaign after it was left out of earlier beta tests. However, the game’s open-ended conclusion has left some fans with unanswered questions.

Set in 1991 against the backdrop of the first Gulf War, Black Ops 6 sees the team going rogue and investigating the mysterious group known as The Pantheon, who have infiltrated the CIA. Below, you can find a breakdown of the game’s final cutscene and clues to who that mystery character is.

The ending of the game sees the characters reunite together after the events of the game. However a meeting with CIA boss Livingstone confirms that Pantheon members are still operating within the organisation so there’s still some work to do.. At the same time, it is revealed that someone is hacking into Livingstone’s computer. We don’t know who this is, but two suggestions are either Case (your character) or Jackson Caine, the leader of Crimson One.

Despite spending the game playing as Case, we never actually see what the character looks like. They were also not only present on the Emergence mission, but they had a freakout, perhaps as a result of experiments done during the testing of the biological weapon known as The Cradle. Case also appears to kill Jane Harrow in that helicopter  crash, but this is never confirmed.

Some fans believe The Cradle turned Case into the ultimate evil super soldier, which would explain why they are not part of the reunion in the final scene.

Coincidentally, the campaign for Black Ops Cold War took place ten years prior to the events of Black Ops 6. The story ended with your character (Bell) apparently being shot by Adler, but another fan-theory suggest that Bell was taken away and experiments on as part of The Cradle program, and returned as Case. It would explain why Adler knew so much about The Cradle.

However, the story could be setting up Jackson Caine as the traitor, who appears as an operator in multiplayer and could continue the narrative there. Either way, we should hopefully find out more as updates are released over the coming months.
